Day 2 - Nov 5 -Montoursville, Pennsylvannia to Columbus, Ohio
The rain woke me up this morning. It was heavy. By the time we were ready to start the drive, it was still pouring. The highway was busy enough but it was all the spray and the water on the road that made it a difficult drive for about two hours. Then the rain stopped, we were still in the mountains. It was cloudy for another couple of hours and finally when we crossed into Ohio, the sun started to peek out here and there. The landscape changed to farm fields with some forests on the edges. And the land was pretty flat. I saw several Red-tailed Hawks still in trees. After a morning of heavy rain they were ready to look for breakfast. We finally stopped for gas and took a selfie attached here.
We drove for several hours down the I 80 where the speed limit is 70 mph. We stopped in the later afternoon at a shopping centre for some fruit and some supper items. Then we drove another hour and a bit and after 5 pm checked into a motel in Columbus Ohio. I went for a walk like I did yesterday just to get my circulation going again. The temperature was 15 degrees and it was very comfortable.
Once in the room, I got organized with my computer and password business and took a quick shower. We heated up supper and then the LIGHTS WENT OUT
Thankfully I had set my computer up and we had light from the computer screen and the battery. Norm found his flashlight and we waited. The phone did not work, the room door is an electronic swipe. We did not know if the room was unlocked with no electricity or what. The hall was dim with only emergency lighting. We ate our supper in the dark pretty well, a computer screen is not that great but at least we could see a bit. The whole block was dark. I finally stepped out of the room and talked with a fellow going down the hall. and he said that it was a whole area and nothing much was being done by the people at the front desk as it was a city problem. He said the room swipe key worked so that was good news, we could step out now. We waited a bit longer and Norm went to see the Front Desk fellow. We just wanted to know how long before the electricity would come on. Should we go to another hotel or what. While Norm was there, the lights everywhere came on. Now everything works and life is good. We
are watching another movie tonight. I think I would like to have the movie channel at home.
We tried to take a picture of the Pennsylvania mountains we were going through but somehow the photo did not turn out.
