Computer problems - Days in Fort Worth and on to Fort Hood for American Thanksgiving
Hi All
My computer updated all by itself and now it is not working and shuts down so this will be brief. We had several days with the kids and spending lots of time of Lu. Cassi had school stuff to get through. We did the Botanical Gardens with Lu and a picnic lunch. Played a lot and did some crafts with him. Lu is enjoying some unstructured days. We visited the Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth, which are less than a 5 minute drive from Cassi's. One could walk there but there is that big hill to go back up to get to Cassi's place. We continued to look for lizards as the sun was out and the temperature was rising. Here is one of the two lizards we found. Lu just loves an expedition to find lizards. We then had a picnic lunch on a bench there and it was lovely. The roses are still in bloom here even with the couple of cool nights we have had since we were here last week. We headed back home after our outing for Lu's nap which never happened today. Oh well, Lu is on Thanksgiving Holidays with us this week.
After Cassi`s Tuesday exam we all packed up and drove down further south a couple of hours to just outside Fort Hood. It is scrubby cattle and ranch country here and even warmer. I went birding today and will go again to two more birding places tomorrow morning. We are very near a big lake and a huge dam. I birded by the spillway this morning. (Chalk Ridge Fall Park on Stillhouse Hollow Lake). Tomorrow it is Belton Lake.
Today we did Thanksgiving crafts with Lu and right now the Matt and Norm are busy peeling and chopping vegetables for tomorrow. Matt made some pecan pies earlier. Matt said that the turkey will be done on the smoker outside.
We really have enjoyed our time with the kids and we will head home after Thanksgiving.
As for birds of note, nothing yet different from what I saw in Fort Worth but I am always looking
Got to go, computer is telling me it is not responding!!. I know, and it is hard to believe but it is the land of snow and ice at home. YIKES!
Ok This time, the computer has not thrown me out so going to try add some photos. Here goes.
